Assessment of the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Mobility Patterns in the Kampala Metropolitan Area

This study seeks to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mobility patterns in the Kampala Metropolitan area so as to inform planning transportation during the pandemic and in the post-COVID-19 period.

In terms of specific objectives, the project seeks to

  1. To identify ways in which commuters coped with the threat of COVID-19.
  2. To describe ways in which transporters coped with the restrictions on vehicle loading (reduced commuters, need to sanitise vehicles, requirement to enforce mask wearing)
  3. To explore the socio-economic impact of implementing the regulations on transportation (reduced earnings, fear of contracting the disease). The study will be led by Dr. Olive Kobusingye and coordinated by Ezekiel Musasizi
