On Friday, 8 May 2026, CTRIAD hosted a delegation from the Makerere University Students’ Guild to discuss their new project, the Safer Campus Roads Initiative. The students highlighted the growing burden of road crashes among university students and expressed their commitment to advancing research and advocacy for safer mobility within and around campus.
The delegation included:
- Ntanda Addul-Karim, GRC School of Public Health & Guild Minister for Off-Campus Affairs
- Denise Kainomugisha, Chairperson College Guild Council MakSPH & Vice Minister of Health
- Akello Evas, Deputy Guild Speaker
During the meeting, the students emphasized the need for collaboration with CTRIAD to strengthen evidence-based advocacy and integrate student voices into national injury prevention efforts. They shared plans for upcoming research and campaigns aimed at reducing crashes among young people, particularly those commuting to and from campus.
CTRlAD welcomed their initiative, recognizing the importance of youth-led advocacy in shaping safer systems. This partnership reflects a shared vision: that road safety is not only a national priority but also a campus responsibility.
